Having been appointed by Col. Chas F. M.
Garnett & Capt. Geo E. Walker Engrs & Commissioners an Agent
for the removal of iron from the "Alabama & Florida RRd of
Florida," the Gainesville Branch of Ohio & Mobile RRd {Mississippi,
Gainesville & Tuscaloosa RR},
"the Cahaba, Marion & Greensboro RR", the Uniontown
& Newbern RRd {the North Western RR of
Alabama}, you will proceed without delay to Montgomery Ala,
West Florida & to such other points as may be necessary to the
prompt performance of the duty entrusted to you. You will apply to the
officers in comd of the forces in the district of the Gulf & in
the Dept of Miss & East Louisiana for such assistance &
protection as they can give. You will urge upon these commanders the
great need there is for iron to keep the main lines of RRd in repair
for transporting troops or various supplies for the respective armies. |
