| A letter has been received from Col W. H.
Stevens of the Engineer Corps this morning in which he writes,
"we have 5000 lbs bacon & 3000 bus. corn {1 car
load} at Tarboro N. C. awaiting
transportation to Richmond. Mr. Baggett (Agent) has an order from Genl.
Hill for the transportation; but the Q. M. Dept. have stopped the
transportation." |
| As we are greatly in need of &
dependent upon this supply of provisions for our laboring force
employed on fortifications in this vicinity, I respectfully, but most
earnestly request transportation for the above articles from Tarboro
to Richmond at the earliest practicable moment. |
| Very respy, Yr obdt Servt |
