| I have to acknowledge the receipt of your
two letters of the 6th & 9th insts. the former enclosing the
application of Capt. C. H. Dimmock for the detail of six conscripts,
also the reply of Capt. Jas. A. Williams to a reference made to him
about the slave "Silas," of S. Y. Stokes, and stating that
Capt. Dimmock reports all the rail road iron to be on the west side of
the Blackwater River; and the latter inclosing a paper which relates
to the missing negroes of Dr. Robt. H. Nelson of Hanover County Va. |
