Captain, |
Your letter of the 26th ulto. enclosing a
copy of the Bill of injunction filed by the Rogersville &
Jefferson R. Rd. Co. ??? yourself, has been received. |
The bill was submitted to the Hon. Jas. A.
Campbell, Asst. Secretary of War, late Judge of the Supreme Court of
the United States and one of the ablest jurists in the Confederacy,
and after examining carefully the statutes of the Tennessee
Legislature referred to in the bill, he has rendered an opinion a copy
of which is herewith enclosed. This opinion in the hands of able counsel
which you were authorized to employ in my letter to you of the 30th
ulto. will I hope be the means of procuring an early dissolution of
the injunction. |
Very Respectfully |
J. F. Gilmer |
