| Lt. Col. Blackford
with a portion of 1st Engr Reg't is engaged in taking up the track of
the {Richmond &} York R. R. R. to procure iron for repairing the
{Richmond &} Danville R. R. He
requests that the officer cond'g in that vicinity may be ordered to
cover his operations whilst working, and to keep him advised as to the
position of the enemy, should any threatening movements be made. In
the absence of Col. Rives act'g Chf Eng Bur. I resp'y request that the
orders may be issued and a copy sent to Lt. Col. Blackford and this
Bureau. |
