Endorsement on letter from Capt. J. M.
Robinson suggesting that a negro force could do excellent service by
repairing the Danville {Richmond & Danville
RR} & S. S. {South Side} R.
R. referred to Q. M. Genl. |
Eng. Bureau 24 June 64 Resp'y
returned to Q. M. Genl. These laborers are engaged on important work
on the fortifications & it will take some time to collect them.
The damage to the S. S. R. R. is represented to be slight & as
these laborers could hardly be there for a day or two, it is not
thought judicious to send them forward without more definite
information. |
