The President deems it of the utmost
importance to repair the Va. Central R. Rd. as promptly as possible.
Assist the company therefore in every possible way & confer with
Mr. Whitcomb the Suptd. Timber of suitable dimensions is doubtless the
greatest want, & hence I enclose you an order from Lieut. Parker
of the Navy to place at your disposal all the probably required
supply. You will find 12" x 12" in various lengths at the
Navy Yard and also at Ashland on the R. F. &. P. R. Rd. {Richmond,
Fredericksburg & Potomac RR} In addition there is a large
supply of 2 1/2" plank near the Central R. Rd. Depot which may be
used if needed. Lt. Parker's office is at the corner of 9th & Bank
Sts. just opposite the War Department. |
