Endorsement on letter from A. E. Maxwell &
signed by R. B. Hilton, Jno. M. Martin, O. M. Avery, Presdt, Ala. & Fla.
R. Rd (of Fla.) protesting against the removal of any more of the iron
on the Ala. & Fla. R. Rd. to repair Alabama rail roads, dated April 30th
1863. |
"The Alabama & Florida R. Road is one from
which the Commission decided the iron could be taken without any injury
to the general interests of the country, if not needed for the supply of
our troops. I am inclined to the opinion this road does not exist. As to
local inconvenience it will not be greater than will result from the
removal of any other iron that must be had for the main roads. |
Respectfully returned to Hon. Sec. of War." |
