Sir, |
There is now lying on Broad Street in this
city a large quantity of hewn or sawed timber, belonging to the Navy
Dept. that is very suitable to repair the culverts and bridges on the
Fredericksburg & Va. Central Rail Roads {Richmond,
Fredericksburg & Potomac RR and Virginia Central RR} and to avoid
delay in making these repairs there is an urgent necessity of procuring
it, if possible, on once. I therefore respectfully & earnestly recommend
that you request the Hon. Sec. of Navy to turn over this timber or so
much as may be needed, to the Engr. Dept. for the purpose indicated. The
quantity required will probably be very small. |
I have the honor to be Very Respt |
