Presdt R. F. & P. R. R. {President,
Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac RR} |
|
Sir, |
I have the honor the return herewith Genl
R. E. Lee's letter, referred to this Bureau by yourself, in regard to
the means of securing the prompt reconstruction of bridges on your
road liable to be destroyed by the enemy, with a view to this object,
duplicates of the N & S Annas bridges have already been prepared
and in respect to the other bridges, the Bureau will be ready to
afford every assistance in its power. |
For the greater security of the negroes
thus engaged, would it not be better to take measures to have them
returned to the city every night. |
Very Respy &c |
