Dear Sir, |
Enclosed I send you a letter from Capt E.
T. D. Myers offering you the position of principal assistant on the
Extension of the {Richmond &} Danville R.
R. {the Piedmont RR} This is a duty on
which you can render most valuable assistance & will probably be
congenial to you. If you accept, come up as soon as you can, placing
temporarily in charge the best man for the position, in your party. In a
few days Mr. Grant could go down to complete the work which I trust
would not suffer materially during the few days intervening between your
departure & his arrival. |
If you prefer remaining on your present
duty, send word to that effect by the messenger who will hand you this. |
Very truly yours |
A. L. Rives |

{It appears from various vouchers
that Kuper did not take the job and remained in charge of survey
parties} |
