A letter has just been received from Mr. A.
L. Maxwell Bridge contractor in which he states that he had applied
through the enrolling officer in Macon, Ga. for the detail of his
workmen, that the application had been referred to your Bureau for
decision & no reply had been recd. Mr. Maxwell is a contractor of
character & reputation: he has recently contracted for the
reconstruction of the very important R. R. bridge {on
the Alabama & Mississippi Rivers RR} over the Tombigbee
R. at Demopolis Ala. and as the men whose detail he desires to obtain
are needed for the performance of his contract, I earnestly recommend
his application to your favorable attention and resp'y request prompt
action. |
