Your letter of the 12th inst. has been
received. In my opinion, it will be best for you to commence work at the
Salines at once, with your small force, seeking to increase it as
opportunity may occur. In regard to the Diameter of the well, selection
of engine, & in price, all engineering questions connected with the work
under your charge, the decision is left entirely to your judgment. It
would seem however that 9 inches bore desired by Professor Thomassy is
excessive. |
