| On the 30th January last a letter from
this Bureau was addressed to Maj. W. P. Smith requesting him to turn
over to P. V. Daniel Jr. Esq. Prest. of the R. F. & P. R. Rd. Co. {Richmond,
Fredericksburg & Potomac RR}, Thirty (30) of the slaves
impressed in Caroline County, and a sufficient number of tents to make
them comfortable. In a verbal communication, Mr. Daniel states that
only sixteen of the negroes have been delivered to him. |
| By direction of Colonel Gilmer, you will
please cause the remaining fourteen to be delivered to Mr. Daniel as
early as practicable. |
