Endorsement on letter of Larkin Hundly & others
justices of Essex Co. to the Hon. Sec. of War, requesting that the call
on that county for slaves be suspended or rescinded entirely on the
ground that that county has furnished more than its quota for slave
labor already. |
"Respectfully returned to the Hon. Sec. of
War. A statement has been communicated to the authorities of Essex Co.
to the effect that if they would furnish labor to Mr. Dudley Prest. of
the {Richmond &} York River R. Rd. Co. to
assist him in securing the iron on his road between West Point and the
Paumnkey, it would be considered as satisfying the call." |
