| I enclose herewith a claim of Wilmington,
Charlotte & Rutherford R. R. Co. for one flat boat lost whilst
obstructing the Cape Fear River. |
| As Mr Parsley in his statement certifies
the boat now lies at the bottom of Mr Flanner's Wharf, I desire that you
examine into the case & settle with claimant if satisfied the claim is
just, and that the boat is a total loss. |
| If it can be raised and made serviceable,
please communicate with me & suspend the payment. |
