Endorsement on letter from P. V. Daniel Jr.
Prest. R. F. & P. R. Rd. Co. to Sec of War dated Sept. 8th in
regard to supplying Genl. Lee's army referred to this Bureau, and
returned to War Department. |
"The laborers asked for by the
Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac R. Rd. Co. (100) will be
ordered from the works for the defense of Richmond, the completion of
which is of most importance and will be delayed by detaching the 100
men to the R. Road. Maj. Genl. G. W. Smith, Commanding, has promised
to supply details of soldiers if possible in place of the negroes to
be sent away, this is very desirable. |
"I respectfully return this letter to
the War Department. |
