Endorsement on letter from P. V. Daniel Jr.
Prest. R. P. & F. F. Fc. Co. applying for a detail of men to
aid in putting up Telegraph lines, and referred to this Bureau from
Maj. Genl. Smith's office, with a request that the work be done by
Negroes, & that they be sent. |
"One hundred negroes will be sent to
the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Rail Road from the defenses
of this city, but this will delay the works as essential to the safety
of Richmond it is hoped Maj. Genl. Smith, Commanding, will order as
heavy details of soldiers to work on the defenses as possible to
supply the labor to be taken away." |
