Your letter of the 15th Nov. '62 addressed
to his Excellency President Davis, enclosing proposed obligation and
mortgages of the Alabama & Tenn. River R. Rd. Co. binding
themselves to construct the railroad from Blue Mountain, Ala. to Rome,
Geo. -- together with a copy of the act authorizing the contract or
contracts for its construction, has been received and referred finally
to this Bureau of which Col. J. F. Gilmer is the Chief. By his
direction I write to inform you that your letter with its enclosures
has been forwarded for the consideration of Capt. L. P. Grant of the
Provl. Engr. Corps who represents the Govt. and on who devolves the
duty of causing to be prepared suitable contracts subject to the
approval of the Hon. Sec. of War. You are therefore respectfully
referred to Capt. L. P. Grant whose address is Atlanta, Geo. |
