forth that, according to agreement with the former Secretary of War
the Piedmont RR Co in receiving impressed slaves from the Govt is
bound only as a common hirer, and is not responsible for accidents or
loss from death &c, was submitted by this Bureau to the Hon.
Secretary of War, who has carefully noted its contents. |
