Major, |
As it is reported that the Pearl River
bridge can be rebuilt in a short time, your attention is earnestly
called to the importance of its speedy restoration as a means of
saving the RR iron rolling stock on which have been left on the other
side of the river, provided such course meets with the approval of the
Comdg General. |
A dispatch has been received from Genl Jos
E Johnston requesting that you be ordered to report promptly to him on
being exchanged. |
A special order to that effect is herewith
enclosed. A telegram has been sent to Gen Johnston stating that you
have been exchanged, and will report to him forthwith without delay. |
Yours Very Respectfully |
A. L. Rives |
