A letter has recently been received from
Geo W Mader, Asst Engr, in which he states that he can make no
progress in saving the iron and rolling stock of the Mississippi
Railroads, as there is no commissioned officer with him to make the
necessary disbursements, and requests therefore to be relieved from
his present duty and ordered to report to Gen Leadbetter, who, he
says, has informed him that he has need of his services on the Mobile
Defences. Shall the Bureau comply with Mr. Mader's request? |
A letter has been written to Major
Lockett, recently exchanged and again on duty, calling his attention
to the importance of reconstructing the big Pearl River Bridge, and
saving iron and rolling stock of the Mississippi Central Railroad. |
