| I return herewith to your files as
requested Mr. Wilke's letter with your endorsement respecting the
difficulty of obtaining transportation for supplies, &c. for the
Piedmont R. R. over the N. C. R. R. {North
Carolina RR} I have submitted the letter to
Col. Larkin Smith, Asst. Quarter Master Genl. & at his suggestion
consulted with Capt. Morfit A. Q. M. specially charged with all
business connected with R. R. transportation. |
| Capt. Morfit promised to give the matter
his attention & I trust all needful facilities will be extended to
the Piedmont R. R. in future by the N. C. R. R. |
| I learned also from Col. Larkin Smith that
he was under the impression that favorable action had been taken in
the matter of the tents. I will lay and ascertain definitely at an
early date. |
