Your telegram directing that
if Capt Robinson could not be spared Capt Poor must be sent to Knoxville
was received by me yesterday. As Capt Robinson was alone ordered, my
letter which you will receive this morning contains only my reasons for
desiring to retain him. |
I hope that if compatible with
the interests of the service, you will nor order either officer from me,
as Capt Poor is actively engaged & will continue to be so, rendered
necessary from my wish to fortify main points securely and to operate
with the main body of my army if practicable when spring opens. I will
await your reply to my letter before ordering either officer. |
