received from operator at Salem dated today. |
| A courier just arrived says
the enemy are in New Castle about dark this evening. |
| You will remain at the
{New River} Bridge until further orders. |
| You will take possession of
the freight train which leaves Central Depot tomorrow morning and hold
it in readiness to move your command to any point at a moment's notice. |
