| 7. 1. Lt. Col. Showalter will move
promptly to Liberty, with the two companies now under his immediate
command, and the company reporting to Brig Genl Harrison. Two of these
companies he will post at Liberty and the third at Beaumont. |
| 2. Lt. Col.
Showalter is placed in command of Liberty and Beaumont and the immediate
and adjacent country. He will establish his Head Qrs at Liberty and
report directly to these Head Qrs. He will protect the citizens and
their property, preserve order and see that the work on the Rail Road
Bridge over the Trinity {Texas & New Orleans RR}
is prosecuted with vigor. He is also charged with the duty of
arresting all deserters and absentees in that section of country. |
