XVI Lt. Edwards, Engr. Corps, will proceed
to the Bridge, over Brazos River, on the Washington
{County} R. R. and carry out the
instructions of Capt. Kleinpeter Chief Engr in regard to procuring ties
for the Military R. Roads on the Island. He will apply to the Comdg Offr
of the Cavalry Corps at or near Hempstead who on the presentation of
this order will cause Lt. Roach, 2nd Tex. Infy now reporting to the
Cavalry Corps Commander, and a detail of ten (10) suitable men from his
command to be selected by Lt. Roach, to report to Lt. Edwards, Engr
Corps for temporary duty. |
Lt. Edwards will apply to Capt.
Kleinpeter for full instructions. The Quartermaster will furnish
transportation for Lt. Edwards and detail, and Commissary will issue
Subsistence on his certificate to provision detail. |
Lt. Edwards is authorized to
procure the ties at such point on the Washington Co. R. R., or wherever
may be most convenient, as he may be able. Should he find it impossible
to purchase them, he will impress them, being guided strictly by
the provisions of the Impressment Law. |
