7. Brig Genl Drayton, Comdg Central Sub.
Dist. is directed to send a commissioned officer to Victoria and impress
for Govt use, the locomotive engine called the "Comet" in the possession
of the San Antonio & Mexican Gulf R. R. In case the R. R. Co. prefer to
retain such portions of the engine, as are not wanted for Govt use, in
that case, only such portions to be impressed, as the engineers to be
sent with the impressing officer may designate. If however, the Agents
of the R. R. prefer that the Govt should take the entire engine &
fixtures. in that case, the impressment will be made accordingly. |
Brig Genl Drayton as soon as
the roads are in a fit condition, will have the above named property
transported to Columbus and thence to Houston, and is authorized and
directed to impress if necessary the wagons and teams for the purpose. |
