Colonel, |
It has become a military necessity to remove a part of the
iron from the Rail Road from Charlotte to Statesville
{Atlantic, Tennessee & Ohio RR} in order to
repair the Richmond & Danville Road which has been broken by the enemy
and Lieut. Col. Jno. J. Clarke has been assigned to the duty of
collecting & forwarding the iron to Danville Va. Should he find a
military force necessary to support his operations I have to request
that you will furnish such troops as you can spare from your command for
this purpose should Col. Clarke find it necessary to make application to
you for assistance. |
I am Col. |
Your obt servant |
