| I am instructed by the Lt Genl
Comdg to say that he wishes you to furnish transportation at once from
this point to the Jackson side of Big Black river for the remainder of
the troops belonging to Genl Bomen's division. Troops will not under any
circumstances be transported on platform cars. The Genl also desires me
to say tat the planking on the bridge over the Big Black river
{Southern (of Mississippi) RR} is entirely
insufficient. It should be at least two planks wider and if not
impossible three. |
