The Southern
{(of Mississippi)} RRoad requires iron &
chairs for ten miles of track and one hundred & fifty kegs of spikes to
make it safe & efficient {This requirement would
need some 140 cars for transportation}. Genl Johnston informs me
you are the proper person to whom to make such application. This army
cannot be supplied unless this road is put in proper order. Designate
the road from which to take the iron & chairs & how the spikes can be
obtained |
