| I am directed by the Lt Genl
comdg to say that guarding the trains on the R. Rs, as it is now
conducted, is a complete farce. A day or two since h had to make an
officer and five of his men leave the ladies car & take their proper
places. In all cases falling under his observation, the comd officers
having charge of such guards have shown themselves utterly worthless.
The Genl directs that this be enquired into and rectified at once. |
