| I am instructed by Lieut. Genl
Pemberton comdg this Dept; to say to you that he desires you to inform
parties that no more sugar can be brought to Camp Moore, belonging to
private individuals, as it cannot be transported without injury to the
public service: owing to the fact that four thousand (4000) additional
troops have lately been sent to Port Hudson La. who must be supplied
from Camp Moore. These troops have already been on short rations for
some time, for the want of the necessary transportation over your road.
The General therefore hopes you will give the subject your earliest
attention. |
