| Mr. A. L. Maxwell, the Contractor for
rebuilding the R. R. Bridge over the Tenn River, at Bridgeport
{Nashville & Chattanooga RR}, has
contracted with the owners of the Tredegar works in Richmond, for a
quantity of iron necessary for the work. It has been suggested to me,
that as their works are largely engaged in furnishing the Ordn Dept.
with iron it may be necessary that Authority be given by the Chief of
that Dept to furnish the iron. |
| It is important that there should be no
delay in the delivery of the iron, and I have to ask that you give the
Authority required. |
