In connection with your assignment as Superintendent
of Rail Roads connecting at Selma Ala {Alabama &
Mississippi Rivers RR and Alabama & Tennessee River RR} & Agt. of
the Conf. States the Maj Gen Commanding directs that you assist Lt Col
Meriwether in the construction of the RRoad from Blue Mountain to Rome
Ga giving him all the aid in your power. |

He also directs that you take charge of the iron interest
for the Q. M. Department and authorizes you to make all needful
arrangements with the Nitre & Mining Bureau for a full and ample supply
of iron required by the QM Department in the District under directions
of Maj. W. Richardson Hunt, giving you special attention to supplying
horse shoes and horse shoe nails. |

orders. |
