I have sent a very competent person to
attend to the removal of the machinery from the Etowah Works, and
tomorrow will be able to send my own cars up {on
the Western & Atlantic RR} so as to avoid shifting here.
The troops have occupied all the cars, and as soon as they all had
left Atlanta, they were ordered back, at least Cleburne's Division.
Half of them returned last night. ***** |
I am trying to persuade the railroad shops
here to put up air furnaces. Would you send me the inner dimensions of
the furnace nearest the rolling mill, the one secured by timber
braces, as I think that one worked better with wood than the others. I
ask you will send me this as soon as possible. |
