Sir, |
You are hereby appointed a special agent
of this office to take charge of and accompany five (5) Government
Cars now loaded at the {Richmond &} Petersburg
R. R. Depot with one thousand (1000) bushels of coal for the C. S.
Naval Ordnance Works in Charlotte, N. C. with which you will proceed
with all possible despatch to that place, and, on your arrival there,
immediately report yourself to Commdr R. L. Paige, the commanding
officer, to whom you will deliver the coal, taking duplicate receipts
therefor, on the invoices enclosed herewith to be returned to this
office. |
You will use all diligence in the
performance of this service and as soon as the cars are discharged at
Charlotte, you will return with them to this city, and report your
arrival at this office. |
