This is to certify that I have
taken for the use of the Confederate States of America, the iron
rails, chairs and spikes of the Brunswick & Albany Railroad, upon
which, the Treasurer at Richmond will advance the sum of five hundred
thousand dollars ($500000.00) to C. L. Schlatter President of the
Brunswick & Albany Railroad Company, in part payment; the balance
to be settled hereafter. This iron was taken under the impressment
law, for the repair of certain railroads, and upon appeal from the
local appraisement to the State Commissioners of Georgia, was
appraised by them at two hundred and thirty dollars per ton of 2240
pounds. |
