December 24 For Rail road iron, chairs & spikes taken for the use of the C. S. as per certificate of Major Minor Meriwether, Comr for collection & distribution of iron $500,000 00
  in part payment.    
 
   Received at Richmond Va. this 29th day of March 1864 from Lt. Col. A. L. Rives,, Corps of Engineers P. A. C. S. the sum of Five hundred thousand Dollars in full of the above account.

The receipt of this account by the Brunswick & Albany R. R. Co. shall not be construed as abandoning their right to recover the $299,550, attached as the property of alien enemies. That amount is in controversy between the Company & the Receiver at Savannah & the Confederate States will hold it subject to the decision of the court.
