I have been for some time past assigned to duty, by Maj
General Magruder, as Master Machinist on the BBB&C Railway {Buffalo
Bayou, Brazos & Colorado RR}. Believing that my services
are of more value to the Govt and the army in my present position,
than they would be if I joined my command, I hereby respectfully
tender the resignation of ,my commission as 1st Lieut of Co B, 2d
Texas Infantry.

has been for some time on detached service. He desires to resign in
