In my communication to you last Friday
from Houston, I said the additional order, with regard to my
Instructions about detailing Militia for the Rail Road and Plantations
&c, it would stop the running of the B. B. B. & C. R Road. I meant to
convey the fact, that if all the employees of the Road that were drafted
had to join their companies and be marched to Houston, before they could
be detailed and the Commanding General approval obtained, that during
this time the Road would be without hands to work it, the letter I find
from a rough copy I ??? did not fully explain, what I intended, no other
possible inquiry could accrue, but delay, and extra trouble to the
General who has now in my opinion too much mental and physical labour.
