Your favor of yesterday was
forwarded to me to day, and submitted with the other correspondence on
the Sugar water to Genl Bocock, Prest of this Road, enclosed herewith
please find his reply. The statement of Genl B. relating to my
transactions with Mr Grider is correct, and was substantially made by me
to you in our interview on the 4th inst. I will simply say further, that
I did not consider Capt Schaffs proposal as an ordinary offer to
purchase, I thought it a very extraordinary one. I understood it to
refer to the Sugar you seized and so stated in my communication of the
4th inst. |
