I have given order to the officer in
charge to use his best endeavor to take up the iron on the Ala &
Fla R Road as far as Pollard and to remove it to a safe place towards
Montgomery and to hold it subject to military order for the completion
of interior roads, and to listen to no request from interested
parties. The iron is not safe even at Pollard from falling into the
hands of the enemy who are now advancing upon that point in force
superior in number to that we can oppose. |
