Dr Sir, |
Mr Chadwick of the firm of Crary
& Chadwick Pensacola desire to obtain 500 ft. white pine lumber
and 1000 ft mahogany lumber for the purpose of making patterns for
Rail Road wheels. This wood is indispensable for this object and it is
also indispensable that it should be well seasoned. It cannot be
obtained except from the Government deposit. These gentlemen are men
of character. Mr. Chadwick for a number of years carrying on a f?????. |
The wheels which it is proposed to be made
from these patterns are indispensable to the operations of our road
and other roads immediately in connection with ours. Already we are
beginning to feel serious inconvenience from being cut off from our
usual sources of supply, the most southern ones having been recently
??? Richmond Va., and the works there not only being ????? but
absolutely declining to furnish work for private accounts, being
employed to their utmost capacity on work for the Government. |
The importation in a military point of
view of obtaining an immediate and adequate supply of Rail Road wheels
is too ??? to ??? than it should be urged upon your consideration. |
