In order to carry out the construction of
the Torpedo Boat and other pressing work on our hands, it will be
necessary to obtain a considerable supply of material. We beg to make
the following accommodations: |
1st That two car loads of Pig Iron at Florence So Ca (W{ilminton}
& Manchester R Road) supposed to belong to parties in Wilmington
N. C. and detained at Florence on account of the Epidemic at the
former place be taken possession of, and sent to this city to be
accounted for to the owners. |
2nd On 25 ulto Let D. E. Dussett advised Cpt D. N. ??rahuns
that he had ship'd to this place from Wilmington NC for Naval purposes
"Some 75 to 100 Tons Scrap Iron & other metals" which up
to this time has not been rec'd. Our Wm Cameron visited Wilmington on
16 ult & found the Iron on the city side of the River & no
authority as to its removal. The Presdt of the Wilmington & Weldon
RR, at Wilmington, with authority, will undertake sending this Iron to
this City. |
3rd That our Wm A Cameron visit the Iron & coal
mines of Tennessee and Georgia with authority to obtain a supply of
coal, coke, and Iron and secure transportation to this City of the
same, for and account Major F. L. Childs, formerly Chston Arsenal. |
