| The Virginia & Tennessee Railroad Company,
promise to pay James H. Watkins or order, at the Office of the Company,
in the City of Lynchburg, upon presentation of this bond, to-wit: on the
31st day of December next, Fifty Six 25/100 dollars, being in full of
the Fourth and last Quarter's hire of One negroes, viz: Fred |
| Brakeman Freight Trains |
| to be employed in the above service of the said
Company, until the 25th day of December, 1863l Said negroes are
represented by the obligee or his agent, as sound and in good health,
and they are hired as now being so. In addition to the above hire, the
said Company is to board and clothe said negroes in the usual manner. |
