I
have the honor to return herewith the several papers from the
Commissary Genl. referred to this office by you, with a request that
the complaints as to delays in transportation at Augusta be
investigated. I beg leave to state that I had caused strict enquiry to
be made into this matter some time before these papers were received;
and a remedy had already been applied, by changing the officer charged
with transferring freight from one R. Road to another at that point.
In connection with these oft repeated complaints of the Commissary
Dept, I take leave also to enclose a letter (and accompanying papers) [not present] from
Capt C.C. Sims Qms, at Augusta, which you will please return to me at
your convenience. |
