   Know all men by these presents, That I Thomas Peters of the State of Tennessee as principal, and George B. Peters, Wm. G. Ford, R. C. Brinkley, W. J. Davie and J. J. Murphy, of the State of Tennessee as sureties, are held and firmly bound unto the Confederate States of America, in the full and just sum of Thirty Thousand Dollars, to the payment whereof, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, jointly and severally, our joint and severally, our joint and several heirs, executors and administrators, firmly by these presents.
   Sealed with our seals, and dated at Memphis, Tenn., this 25th day of November one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.
   The condition of the foregoing obligation is such, that, whereas, the said Thomas Peters has been appointed to the office of Brigade Quarter Master in the Provisional Army of the Confederate States of America. Now, therefore, if the said Thomas Peters shall truly and faithfully execute and discharge all the duties of the said office, according to law, and fully pay and account for all moneys and public property and supplies, which he may from time to time receive, and render full and true accounts of the disposition of all such moneys and public property and supplies, in such manner and at such times as he may be required by the Secretary of the War Department, or by such other officer as may by law be empowered to require the same, then the above obligation is to be void and of none effect: otherwise it shall remain in full force and virtue.

   Personally appeared before me, George Dixon, Judge of the Com. Law & Chy Court of the City of Memphis of the State aforesaid, R. C. Brinkley and W. G. Ford, who being duly sworn, say that the signatures to the foregoing bond are in their own proper handwriting, and that they signed the same on the day and date and for the purposes therein mentioned; and that they are each of them worth the amount for which he has obligated himself therein, over and above all debts and liabilities.

   I, Geo. Dixon Judge of the Com. Law & Chy Ct. of the City of Memphis of the State aforesaid, and which is a court of record, do hereby certify that the sureties to the within Bond are ample and sufficient.

   The above acknowledgment must be made before a Judge of a Superior or Circuit Court, and the certificate of sufficiency of the sureties must be given by the Judge before whom the acknowledgment is made.
