| *****We started an expedition
last week under Thos. R. Sharp who has lately been engaged removing
machinery from Martinsburg, and Col Turner Ashby to blow up a part of
one of the feeder dams across the Potomac thereby cutting off that
supply of provisions & necessaries from the cities of Georgetown &
Washington. The heavy storms rain & high water prevented them from
accomplishing their object and it has been deferred until the water
falls again in the Potomac. ***** |
