Dear Sir, |
Having left home at short
notice and left a little boy very sick and the prospect being that we
should have bad weather, I determined to leave for home consequently
could not call today as I promised you to do. |
I find that Longstreet is now
falling back and I will be compelled to go to Bristol to secure the
machinery &c and make sure any wants in connection with the E Tenn
& Va Road and am really at a loss what response to make to your
proposition in reference to the cars &c; would like to have your
views as to salary before caring to say any conclusion whatever
proposition is made it should be with the proviso that traveling
expenses must be paid (in addition to salary) by the Government. I
feel anxious to aid you in the matter but at the same time wish to
secure myself against loss and receive an adequate compensation the
undertaking is a large one in the present mater of the Country and
will require the utmost energy and perseverance to carry it through successfully
please let me hear from you by letter on receipt of this. |
I Have the Honor |
to be your obedient servant |
Thos Dodamead |
